A film about an addiction to attraction

I was always attracted

not by some quantifiable, external beauty,
but by something deep down,
something absolute.

Just as some people
have a secret love
for rainstorms, earthquakes, or blackouts,
I liked that certain undefinable something
directed my way
by members of the opposite sex.

For want of a better word,
call it magnetism.

It’s a kind of charm
that snares me and reels me in

Men walk willingly into traps set surreptitiously by Women. To suspect all Men are unaware is cruel, but fair in some cases. It is (after all) a calculated risk. There is (perhaps) a whisper of deception in learnt body language and the understanding of the laws of attraction at a younger age than most males can comprehend.

I read recently about the reason some women hug males with both arms round the neck (not one arm around waist or chest, the other round the neck, as men tend to do) is not only to press the breasts and the whole front of their body against the man, but to allow her perfume to rise to his nostrils and send out the pheremone message of 'want'. It seems a plausible (if flawed) hypothesis, but would signal attraction if deployed I guess.

It also occurs to me that sexual proclivity in women has nothing to do with attractiveness. In recent scandals involving female prison officers in the UK, Teachers or Policewomen in the USA all having orgies and sex with multiple colleagues; all tend to be Women that would at best be 'Part Time Models' (But they probably would have to keep their normal job). Women that most men would not glance twice at on the street. And yes I understand this is more than a little unfair given the male colleagues were not given any of the blame for the scandals and were at least as unattractive, but I am pretty sure most women looked at the photographs of the participants and thought 'Well Done'.

The quality of your catch is determined by the quality of your bait

Alan

I could fall into the trap that you are talking about women being bait and men falling for it, but I somehow suspect you are insinuating that the men are the ones fishing. Quality could therefore be subjective but is likely to fall into the categories of wealth/health/attractiveness/humour/intelligence and fitness. A man with all these qualities would likely be considered a very good catch. But I am afraid I am already married. LOL.

I put out bait. The bait of my own longing.

This is what I find difficult to assimilate when discussing sexism; men are evolved receptors. We unconsciously react to sexual stimuli in a very prescribed and quite predictable way. Women (I have found through...

For the tug of something alive, at the end of the line\ something I may have to struggle with to pull in\ falling for the bait does not make you the most gullible person in the world\ you were snared. You were hooked. Hooked by the noisy clamour of attraction
