First of all, congratulations. OnlyMeat is a statement piece that fits well within your canon of work yet sits somewhere slightly outside it too. Not an easy thing to pull off, but you did it, and the result is an exceptional piece of filmmaking.

The issue of pornography is a sticky one (sic). Sex workers provide a service, and that service is as old as unfulfilled sexual urges; and I suspect that is very very old. I realise that tenacity does not equate to wisdom (Thanks Mr Minchin), but I genuinely feel that all sex work should be legalised and sexual shame should be a thing of the god fearing religious mumbo jumbo past. That is my starting point.

Subjectivity is addressed (uncharacteristically I might add) at the end of the film, but comment is (as usual) not strongly expressed during the body of the work.

You start by discussing the amount of money made by the sex workers created by the platform. This runs into telephone number figures very quickly making the platform very attractive to men and (mostly) women eager to land a quick buck. It certainly has its benefits to those with a latent exhibitionistic streak, along with the thrill of taboo and the sound of cash tills ringing.

You discuss the exploitation felt by some of the women. This got a little trickier; I felt you were being sarcastic with some of the text discussing the plight of Bree, but can see where your sarcasm (if intended) came from. She made a lot of money then stopped because she felt morally bankrupt for performing perverted sex acts on film, knowing that her friends and family knew what she was doing. Perhaps she did blow it all on shoes and cocaine. Maybe she found god. I believe that nobody should not be claiming that she is damaged by the experience, and demanding sympathy. She made what she considers is a mistake, now she is trying to rectify that mistake fair enough. She was coerced into a world she should not have got into, which is a form of exploitation. But she did so willingly and therefore did so with consent.

If that sounds harsh then please understand It is said in the context of me reading recently about a girl trying desperately to get a video taken off a well known porn site. It was posted by strangers and showed her being gang raped after being drugged in a bar and carried to a motel by a bunch of guys. The girl in question did not consent. She was damaged by knowledge of the fact that men were masturbating to a video of her being gang banged. That the rapists had then been rewarded for the video by the site. And that the site was now showing the video to anyone who wanted to watch it. She acknowledged that she could never truly get rid of it, that the video had been copied and spread to many sites.

This leads to your next point about who profits from the site. The Russian Mafia are the latest in a long line of rich exploiters. They may end the world one day if they think that they are threatened enough. They are clearly here for the money despite their unworkable communist masks. They pull strings and manipulate everything from elections (Yes I am looking at you Mr Trump, and Mr Johnson) to money markets, so your claim that they use pornography for money laundering makes absolute sense. I have no reason to doubt it. All society is corrupt though. We are all trying to cheat the system in some way. Also; If I spend a couple of quid going to a football match to watch a team owned by a Saudi State that oppresses women and has a modern slave trade, am I culpable in some way for their actions?

Millionaires are never happy until they become Billionaires, and Billionaires are not happy until they become Trillionaires. But the more money made the harder it is to justify the poverty outside their electric gated properties. The argument is circular and normally ends in revolution or war.

Bringing Home The Rain is new to me. I love that you reference the lyrics here as a nod to how you feel about Only Fans. They explain your empathy and disgust in equal measure.

I would not subscribe to OnlyFans for custom made pornography. However I have been known to buy pornographic books, DVDs, and graphic novels. I have always blurred the lines between pornography and eroticism within my weak willed and erotically charged mind.
