Is that you saying 5,4, 3, 2, 1...?
Intelligent porn. Now theres a concept, I wonder why nobody had thought of it before :) All daughters are trouble (and we love them for it). I do not like the reality TV reference. My son James was on a programme in Britain called 'Magaluf Weekender'. He was approached in a club in London by a TV company who offered to fly him and 3 of his mates to Magaluf for a weekend of fun in the sun (without his parents of course) and they would film the result. It was a couple of years ago when he was just 18 and about to go find out if he was successful on applying to study medicine at Kings College London (he was - proud father moment, sorry). We watched the programme and yes it is a little embarrassing, but James reckons a lot is staged. I think TV died when someone decided that watching someone going about their normal business in life was entertaining. Your vids are not reality TV. The effort you and Max go to to produce these is astounding. Nothing like your analogy. Nothing wrong with the name Missy either (of course I realise it is not your real name, but lets be frank here that mask suits you very well).
I realise this is just a short promo film to say that this year will be fucking magnificent, made all the more pleasurable by the shitzu massage of the brain that is your vidpods.
In a previous email you mentioned Tate Modern and MoMA. Been to both of course but love MoMA much more than the London effort. The thing is MoMA is a purpose built modernist building. London's version is built in the old Bankside power station. Nothing against power stations (Ive worked in a few) but the architecture does not really lend to the experience in my opinion, other than the turbine hall, which is admittedly magnificent.
Ive seen a few video art shows and they are compelling, I would certainly pay to see yours. Incidentally my sisters second husbands son (not sure if that makes him my nephew or not) is also a video artist - Dave Farnham. Here is a link to his early work in 2003 where he draws light round his naked girlfriends form (she is now his wife and mother of their child) - http://www.davefarnham.co.uk/portfolio2003.html
Off piste now, this what I am listening to:
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
Rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions, come on you painter,
You piper, you prisoner, and shine!
I believe the Kendra Morris version is better than Pink's. I admit Gilmour is God so cannot be replaced, but the Mockingbird does a bloody good job. She rocks the 'walk on the wild side' Reed track on that album too. Worth a buzz if you can find it.
Oh and Gemmell has only gone and published another book in the bride trilogy. Typical of these bloody creative women. Always coming up with something new. Tut tut.
I wanted to end this email with the salute 'shine on you crazy diamond' but ended up copying the lyrics, so I'll end on
Keep rocking girl, yeah keep on rocking.
