Unmask'd is a good video. Who am I kidding, it is a great video. Something about it seems a little fractured though. It is like a firework with all sorts of stuff happening. Don't get me wrong, I love it. It has less narrative than previous films perhaps, but as a miniature art gallery; I consumed it greedily.
Picking out the air bombs that made me want to rewind and watch again:
1. Anything with Team America is worth the cultural reference. That film made me kneel down on the floor and gasp for air I was laughing so much.
2. Dalek relaxation tape: OMG. I want a copy. It reminded me of the mildly racist Pakistani Dalek sketch by Spike Milligan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0n88tZQc4Q
3. The reworking of the Addonizio poem to fit your perspective was subtle but works well. I have purposely misquoted Betjeman a few times and nobody notices, but I love his words so much I want them to be mine.
All in all I can see each video becoming more accomplished than the previous. I guess that is natural: my call for you to 'stay inspired' in my last email seems to have been answered by proof that you have only just started to break the crust of your influences and I for one am loving it.
The end-game of creating an alternative to the butchers window porn that floods the internet is still there and I am loving the bridge span of your response. I have recently finished Nikki Gemmels 'With my Body'. She is the author of 'The Bride Stripped Bare' but wrote that anonymously (initially at least). Her eroticism reminds me of yours as it is implied rather than explicit, and for most of us that is what gets us up in the morning. So to speak. I recommend her to you.
I hope you and Max have a fantastic Christmas. I hope it not too hot for you (it is windy, wet and cold here in London). These long nights make me pine for more of your work.
Best Wishes, Take Care.
p.s. Are you still going to try and hit the 250 mark? that seems perhaps a little ambitious given how high you have set the bar.
